For Parents
Thank you for allowing your children to participate in our Awana program. Your decision to send your children will have far reaching rewards for years to come. They will learn about God’s love for them as they study the truth of God’s Holy Word, the Bible. They will learn how to grow in their relationship with God as they gain a deeper understanding of what it means to follow Christ.
While we love the opportunity to interact with your children for an hour and a half each week, that is just a small window of opportunity. We aim to help your children learn about God’s love and grown in their relationship with Him during the time they are with us. But there is much more work to be done at home by you, the parent or guardian. We have resources to help you along the way.
The first week of Awana Truth & Training we walk through the core beliefs we call the Gospel message in what Awana calls the “Start Zone”. It’s a 2 lesson pamphlet that serves as an introduction to Truth & Training handbook time, as well as a guide to the essential elements of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You can download the parent guide to the Start Zone below.
After the first week of Awana, Truth & Training begins a 32 lesson handbook that teaches the rest of the age appropriate material to the children. Each week leaders walk them through the weekly lesson, assisting your child by answering questions and discussing the content of the lesson. There are fill in the blank questions, discussion topics, as well as Bible verse memorization. There are parent guidebooks to help you work with your child at home to prepare for each week’s lesson. You can download the parent guide to the handbooks below.
